Introducing the Theme: Impact of AI on Humanity
By Vriddhi Shah
The fate of humanity must not be left to the black box of an algorithm. Artificial intelligence (AI) is here to stay. It has already woven itself into every aspect of modern life, from how we communicate to how we learn, work, and make decisions. But while AI can process information faster than any human mind, it cannot feel compassion, empathy, or moral responsibility. It can calculate outcomes, but it cannot understand what those outcomes mean for the people who live them.

At THIMUN Singapore 2025, the theme “Impact of AI on Humanity” asks us to reflect on what separates intelligence from wisdom and innovation from humanity. AI has the power to revolutionise education and address global inequality. Yet, these possibilities will only serve us if human values remain at the center of technological progress. Without empathy, fairness, conscience and intelligence, no matter how advanced, this process will become hollow.
This conference calls on young leaders to explore AI’s influence across all spheres of global governance: its rise in warfare, its effect on economies, its impact on education and health, as well as its implications for human rights. The discussions will not only examine how far technology can go, but also how far it should go.
AI can replicate thought, but not kindness. It can mirror human logic, but never the human soul. The challenge before us is to guide this intelligence with integrity and to ensure that in our pursuit of progress, we do not lose the very humanity that makes progress meaningful.
