In addition to wearing a blazer, long sleeves and pants in Singapore’s humid weather, walking up and down the stairs everyday from 9AM to 4PM is pure torture, especially when you have heels or tight formal shoes – all for that “classy” look.
This article dives into the unspoken truth of every delegate’s internal suffering. Here’s what your choice of shoes this week says about you:
What your choice of shoes says about you
Quotes from delegates and chairs

Pointy toe heels:
You thought pointy heels would make you look powerful, but now you just look like a fashionable court jester. You’ve mastered the art of pretending your shoes don’t hurt while secretly counting down the minutes till you can take them off.
“I look like a court jester!”
“My toes are cramped in the pointy part of my shoe.”
“Is it weird to remove your shoes and walk barefoot?”
“Speaking from experience, don’t wear heels.”
“Flats are lowkey good.”

Flats:
You’re smart, experienced, and know better. You’ve learned the hard way that heels during THIMUN are a rookie mistake. There’s a good chance you started the week in heels and quietly switched to flats by Day 3.

Converse/Adidas:
You didn’t have formal shoes or found out about the dress code last minute. You grabbed the most “formal-looking” pair in your closet and hoped no one would notice. (spoiler alert: THIMUN did and they don´t approve).
¨These look fine.¨
¨Are they formal enough?¨
¨Also, don´t wear heels!¨
“The worst part about THIMUN are the shoes.”
“I hate formal shoes the most.”
“The urge to walk barefooted!”

Stiletto:
You’re walking a fine line, literally. Every step is a test of balance and pain tolerance. You are also resisting the urge to break your shoes, and walk barefoot on the stairs.

Block heels:
You played it safe, but you’re still suffering. You stand tall and stylish, repeating “beauty is pain” in your head like a mantra. Or, as the French say, il faut souffrir pour être belle. You know your fashion game and you commit.
