When arriving at THIMUN on the first day. The rooms are ready, placards are in place, and delegates are preparing for debate. And you might be wondering how everything got in place in the first place?
THIMUN doesn’t just simply come together overnight. Behind the conference are hours of planning, drafting, communicating, meeting, and research before we made THIMUN Singapore possible.
Before the conference starts, let’s take a closer look at the responsibilities of the teams that bring the conference to life.
The Chairs:
Before welcoming delegates, chairs prepare for their committee sessions by reviewing procedures, preparing introductions, and examining draft resolutions. Their preparation helps ensure that debates run smoothly and that delegates can participate in meaningful discussions.

The Admin Team:
Before the conference, the Admin Team undergoes training before the conference to prepare for their responsibilities. Admins have a lot of responsibility both inside and outside of committees that most delegates don’t notice. They support chairs and delegates while helping the conference run smoothly behind the scenes.

The Press & Media Team:
While delegates prepare for debate, the press and media team prepares to cover the conference through articles, interviews, photos, and social media posts. Meetings and communication before the conference help each member understand their role and share ideas to make THIMUN Singapore unique.

The Secretariat:
The Secretariat oversees the conference’s preparation. They bring together teams and make sure everything is ready for the first day. From coordinating logistics and preparing materials to selecting and guiding staff members, the Secretariat is responsible for bringing the various aspects of THIMUN together.

The Delegates:
Preparation isn’t just for THIMUN staff. Delegates also spend time researching their assigned countries, studying the issues they will debate, writing opening speeches, and drafting resolutions. Their preparation helps them understand issues and participate confidently in committee sessions.

And now, THIMUN begins:
After all the preparations, the moment has finally arrived. The room is ready, teams are in place, and delegates are about to begin their debates. As you take your seat and get ready to participate, take a moment to appreciate the work that brings THIMUN to life. The preparation may happen behind the scenes and is not usually seen, but the discussion, negotiation, and collaboration are what make the conference meaningful.
