At Model United Nations, first impressions matter. Before you raise your placard or stand to give a speech, your outfit has already made its own introduction. So what exactly should you wear to maintain professionalism while expressing creativity and staying comfortable?

The Classics
When in doubt, a well-fitted suit is always a safe choice. Blazers, button-down shirts, tailored trousers, and professional skirts are MUN wardrobe essentials. Neutral colors like navy blue, black, and gray are timeless, but feel free to stand out with some bolder colors as well!

Your Personal Choice and Details
Professional doesn’t have to be boring, though! Accessories like simple jewelry, a structured bag, headbands, and patterned ties can elevate your outfit. A polished outfit starts with the little things. Iron your clothes, prepare your outfit the night before, and make sure everything fits comfortably.

Comfort
Between committee sessions, lobbying, lunch, and general walking around the venue, you’ll be on your feet more than you think. Choose comfortable dress shoes, loafers, flats, or short high heels, and avoid breaking in new shoes on conference day. Singapore’s humid weather also makes breathable fabrics a smart choice, especially when moving between outdoor spaces and air-conditioned rooms.
